FULL DAY SOLAR SUCKER !
The only solar fan on the market to work at maximum power for most* of the solar day !
200 watt panel and 70 watts of fan power.
In Australia many buildings have dark coloured roofs. In summer this acts like a solar oven and can warm the roof void up to 70 degrees celsius for the darkest roofs. During the course of the day and early evening this heat will work its way into the building through the walls, ceiling and the numerous openings in the ceiling. Household roof insulation is designed to meet Australian standards at 36 degrees, it is not designed to keep out most of the heat on the hottest days. Once the temperature rises much above 36 degrees the heat will generally pour through the ceiling insulation and into the building in the afternoon.
If you visit any light coloured roof house on a hot day you will be easily be able to notice the house is several degrees cooler than a house with a dark coloured roof. If the house with the light coloured roof has good quality sisalation directly under the roof the temperature inside the house will be even cooler.
Many people have ducted airconditioning which can loose as much as 40 % of its efficiency because the cool air produced by the airconditioner is transported through the extremely hot roof void in summer. An easy way to test how much energy is being lost due to roof heat in summer is to measure the air temperature going into the airconditioner and compare it to the air coming out. If no energy was being lost due to roof heat then you would expect a temperature differential of close to 20 degrees celcius. Typically you loose about 8 degrees due to the heat in the roof void so you would only see a temperature differential of 12 degrees.
SOLUTION
Preventing the roof void from heating up so much will obviate the need for airconditioning for cooling for many people in Perth Australia. For those who still do prefer to use airconditioning, keeping some of the excess heat out of the roof void can save on airconditioning running costs. It can also save in capital costs by cutting down the size of the system needed to cope with summer heat.
The best solution is to purchase and install one of our Solar Roof Fans.
